PC sales -- even ahead of Windows 10's release this year -- took a beating, with a decline of 7 percent in the first calendar quarter alone. Those figures were backed up later in the year, marking the fourth consecutive year of declining volume shipments for PCs. Even towards the end of the year, the future didn't look so bright.
